Drafts for my posters (rejected) -
At first, I wanted to do a tv documentary about music and
how it makes people feel or a made-up band, I ended up changed my idea because I
felt like I couldn’t do allot with it, I also didn’t really have access to
instruments. The issue was I didn’t really have a narrative in mind I first
picked music documentaries because io personally love it but because I didn’t
have access to instruments and the posters didn’t have much substance I decided
to change my idea.

I did end up going with a true crime documentary because unlike a music documentary there are millions of posters to annotate and a lot more substance since true crime docs are one of the worlds most watched types of documentaries. I wanted one poster to show two friends having fun in pictures while behind them is a things like police tape and missing persons files to show that their bliss was interrupted by something serious. For the second poster I wanted it to show a mother who can’t come to terms with what she’s seeing at the crime scene like she doesn’t want to believe it, I want the lighting to be low to show very clearly that this is a deviating scene for the mother.
I wanted my true crime posters to tell a story of two friends smiling and taking pictures together around them is police tape to signify a crime, missing persons files and posters to signify one or both are missing, and a wall of pictures of possible suspects. I put these things behind the pictures of the friends to make it seem like their innocence and friendship got slowly destroyed by these aspects, and the only memory left of them is in these photos. The second poster shows the mother at the scene of the crime, unable to come to terms with what’s Infront of her and unable to look. The lighting is dark and mostly a blue tint to make the scene sadder and to come across as devastating the mother looking away would signify that she couldn’t understand why anyone would harm her child, the fact she can’t come to terms with what’s behind her that she still holds hope for her daughter to be alive while the truth is behind her.
for my last two plans I wanted to have a more subtle message, one where the family reserves letters, threatening and showing a body part of their child like showing that she's alive and threatening them, for money or something in that realm, and the other a cryptic message written by the killer, something simple but written in the killers diary and notebook like they wanted it to be found, like this is all a game to them.
